"-The contest is behind us, and we went straight to work getting new footage for the video- the day after the contest, the surfers owned Ho'okipa- they had been waiting for 2 weeks, and given the light wind and perfect roping waves, there was no room for windsurfers! So, the team and I went down the reef a little bit and sailed really fun, if super light, logo high waves at Mama's Fish House/Ku'au. Sam Ireland was on the point filming, and I think we got some good footage of Me (5.0, 92ltrs), Victor (5.3,74ltrs), Rudy (5.6, 74ltrs), Junko (4.7, 70ltrs).
We sailed in to the sunset and had a great session with all ripping- Rudy sailing his 5.6 like it was a 4.7, Junko tagging lips, Victor with solid hits and a super clean wave Taka, and me loving the unbelievable loos ... |

UK Simmer Style rider Ruth Elliot was recently crowned 2006 Women's British Wave Champ. This is her version:
"-I've had a fantastic autumn at home spending the whole of September sailing in North Wales with some killer swells. In early October I traveled up to the Tiree wave classic, which is the biggest and highest profile competition on the UK Wave calendar.
The first day people were still arriving on the ferry so heats couldn't start until the afternoon. As I'd arrived a few days early I pulled off the fastest registration in history and was off to the beach scoring some quality wave riding in logo high clean sets and light winds (yes the combination did cause a few swims).

After a month or so in the sunshine and good winds of Jericuacuara, Brazil Ascanio D' Ascanio is all warmed up and just nailed a few Goiters and Ponchs as well as cleaning up his Flakas on both tacks and to add some extra flavor to the routine he switches it up with Punetas and Funnels. Thanks to a damn nice married woman shooting photos of her husband on the beach we can offer you some pictures, of Ascanio that is, not her husband, though we heard he rips. We also got a little video for you.

Once again its fall on Maui, and the surf is back. We've already had 3 solid swells. Yesterday (Oct 12) in fact was really amazing at Ho'okipa- Light to moderately powered 5.0, logo to mast high NNW swell. Katchadourian, Porcella, Naish and Myself were just hanging outside Green Trees and picking off the best set waves one after another. Super good fun. The 07 Simmer Wave sails are solidly represented in the line-up at Ho'okipa, but the design cycle continues- it's time to work on the '08 designs. I encourage any Simmer Style customer, rider, dealer, or distributor to contact me directly with feedback, comments, or ideas they would like to have considered for any aspect of the new designs.
Best Regards,
JD

Now the constant traveler "Flykatcher" knows where to be and when, we've got that straight long ago, that's why he was in Sweden when that went off and that's why he's on Maui right now kissing lips at Ho'okipa with such a loud smack you can almost hear it by looking at the pictures below. The guy sure could be a millionaire if he started up "Flyatchers Windsurf Hints" or something like that.

So while France got hit with wind, the exact opposite happened as the wind died on the island of Crete where Simmer Style rider Marko Simic is getting ready for the final EFPT event. He knows if the wind won't come to you, then it's all about hitting the road to find it yourself, so next week's he's off to the west part of the island to track down some good conditions, in the meantime check out what was going on before the wind decided to go on strike.

Sylvain Demercastel on the other hand would probably pay a million or so to get rid of his wetsuit and be back in the warm waters of Indo rather than being covered in neoprene back home in France, but no panic, the French season has kicked off with some fine days and motivation is sky high. Just look at the pictures below of Sylvain smacking lips in neoprene looking like a million bucks.
