"-The contest is behind us, and we went straight to work getting new footage for the video- the day after the contest, the surfers owned Ho'okipa- they had been waiting for 2 weeks, and given the light wind and perfect roping waves, there was no room for windsurfers! So, the team and I went down the reef a little bit and sailed really fun, if super light, logo high waves at Mama's Fish House/Ku'au. Sam Ireland was on the point filming, and I think we got some good footage of Me (5.0, 92ltrs), Victor (5.3,74ltrs), Rudy (5.6, 74ltrs), Junko (4.7, 70ltrs). We sailed in to the sunset and had a great session with all ripping- Rudy sailing his 5.6 like it was a 4.7, Junko tagging lips, Victor with solid hits and a super clean wave Taka, and me loving the unbelievable looseness of my 92 liter wave board (ankles dry at all times!) The next day (Nov 20th), the surf was bigger, the wind was stronger, and although Ho'okipa was going off, we decided to bypass the post contest, photo shoot crowd and head down the coast for a team session at Outer Sprecks. It was 5.0 wind, and mast high. Sailors were- Teboul, Katchadourian, Junko, Rudy, Francisco Porcella, Nat Gill and myself. Sam came out on the Jet Ski; I anchored my gear inside the reef, and drove for him while he filmed. It was a little onshore, but super fun- late hits, aerials, 360's, soul carves, it was all happening. Again, we sailed in to sunset, and then met at Sam's place on the beach for Coronas and a hot tub soaking. Nov 21st We are on hold for shooting '07 flatwater pending conditions. Coordinating, rigs, boards, sailors, photographer, helicopter and conditions is a tough to do- we were ready to go today, only to wake up and find the whole north shore socked in with dark clouds and cane fire smoke. We will have a look again tomorrow. Sam just showed up in my loft to do interview stuff. Gotta go! JD"
