Like Julius Caesar, Francisco Porcella arrived from Hawaii to family roots Sardinia to win the Nissan Wavemaster, top Italian wavesailing contest held the end of March in the west coast of Sardinia. The 20 year old Maui boy was far superior of all the other 16 top Italian finalist in epic conditions at Funtana Meiga (Oristano). Fifty + knots of wind, most guys overpowered with 3.7/4.0 sails, mast high waves and freezing cold temperature (8-10° celsius) did not stop the strong rider of Simmer, Drops, Da Kine, Maverx  International team. He won by far all the five heats with his high push loops and clean rides,  Hookipa style.

Now Francisco is taking a week off to go snowboarding in the Alps, before coming back to Sardinia for his last commitment in this European trip. Then he'll be back in Maui on April 12th, to complete a Simmer photoshooting and a movie with Jace Panebianco and Johnny De Cesare.

Next week he'll be a  'special guest'  at the 14° Chia Classic Waterman trophy, organized by Wave Sardegna,where he is giving free clinics on wavesailing to the public and new young riders. Competition wise, during the famous CHIA CLASSIC (first Italian Pro event)  he will partecipate both in the official Italian Wave Championship (organized by AICW for the Italian Sailing Federation),  and the 'Waterman trophy'  where he counts also on his strong surfing and kiting skills.

Sorry but trying to write something catchy after seeing the pictures from the recent PWA event on Sal, Cabo Verde would just be stupid, just have a look for yourselves at Ceballos and Teboul's aerials, Fernandez back-loop off the lip, "Katchers" cutbacks. Just another statement from the Simmer Style team that action is louder than words.

So it's 2007, and we'd like to kick this off by letting you know that there's a new Simmer DVD project in the works, team riders are voted Windsurfers of The Year, people are sailing secret spots and we've got reports of unusually un-crowded waves at Ho'okipa. Hello, Hello!

To finish off 2006 in a fabulous way we've got a new, damn good upcoming rider on the team, new flat water sails that will blow your mind, a Red Bull DVD featuring Simmer riders in one hell of a storm, a saltwater dripping Mediterranean heading to South Africa, a red dressed man with a huge white beard who claims he's a test rider, a triple mast bomb at Outer Sprecks as well as Either / Or with our new team rider. Victor Fernandez (E-42 Fanatic / Simmer) is one of the most respected young talents on the PWA wave sailing and freestyle scenes. The young Spaniard matched the massive expectation on him earlier this year, when he convincingly won in the waves at Pozo. Still in with a shout at the 2006 wave title, Victor was one of many who’s patience was tested at the recent waveless event in Sylt. Enjoying the Indian summer sunshine on the Island of Westerland, he talked us through his season so far.

Victor Fernandez winns the 2006 PWA Gran Canaria Grand Slam in Pozo. Using the 2007 Icon he battled the rounds and was judged the winner. We had our designer with his camera equipment on the beach getting some nice fotage. Please go ahead look what we captured.
